Due to a variety of causes, erectile dysfunction (ED) is a widespread condition in males over the age of 40. Without treatment, ED can lead to extreme emotional distress for both patients and their partners, which is why it is essential for primary care providers to facilitate open conversations and help identify and treat the underlying pathologies as soon as possible. This session will review the etiology of ED while discussing some effective management options available for individuals with this disorder.
Learning Objectives:
Review the pathophysiology of hypogonadism
Discuss the risks and benefits of pharmacotherapy for low T and ED
Differentiate between treatment modalities
Understand the need for ongoing monitoring of men on pharmacotherapy
